Pet-Friendly Bathroom Remodeling
April 7, 2017
Looking to remodel your home but want to include some features for your furry family member? Pets are as much part of the family as most anyone else, and some owners like to share their bathroom space with their furry friends. Here are some pet-friendly bathroom remodeling ideas to help inspire your new bathroom remodel.
Cat’s Litter Box
If you’d like a place to store your cat’s litter box that’s out of sight, then take one of your bathroom’s cabinet doors and install a small cat-sized hole for an entrance. Your cat will have the privacy to go to the bathroom in their litter box and you’ll love that the litter box is out of sight for visitors.
Luckily, most floors used in bathrooms are also the best types of floors to use when you own pets. You’ll want your floor to be water resistant and durable to withstand your pet’s claws or nails. Once the floor is installed, a bathroom mat is a great idea as it offers some traction to those not-so-graceful dogs in our life.
Get a shower-head that also comes with a handheld attachment. This will make your pet’s bath-time much easier and enjoyable for the both of you. Not to mention, you’ll probably love the added accessibility a handheld shower will give you.
Shower Grab Bars
If you’ve ever tried to give a large dog a bath, it can get a little messy at times. Add on the fact that everything is wet and a shower grab-bar is slowly becoming a great idea. It gives you the needed hand-holds to keep yourself from slipping into the tub when your dog decides to try and make a run for it.
Cat Climbing Areas
If your cat likes to frequent your bathroom, give them a few extra areas to fulfill their desire to climb. Offer a few foot-holds to areas where you’d like to them to visit, or offer them a small hidden cubby to hide from the dog. Either way, if you give your cat a new space in your bathroom, they will certainly thank you for it.
