Design Ideas for a Small Bathroom

October 22, 2019

Small bathrooms aren’t always a downside when you find a home that seems almost perfect for you. When designed properly, they can truly shine in your home. Check out these creative design ideas for making your small bathroom feel bigger and better!

Design Idea #1: Use a Pocket Door.

Instead of having a regular door that swings open in a narrow space and causes issues when trying to get in and out of the bathroom, have a barn or pocket door installed in its place. This will offer a more minimalist look and let the bathroom space remain open.

Design Idea #2: Get Fixtures that Float.

Open floor space can be sparse in a small bathroom, but if you opt to have floating fixtures installed, the room will feel more open and you won’t have big, bulky cabinets crowding the space.

Design Idea #3: Install a Corner Sink.

To make your bathroom feel less crowded, you can install a sink in the corner of the room and include a vanity cabinet underneath for extra storage.

Design Idea #4: Use Large Patterns on the Walls.

The way you paint your bathroom can also do wonders for making the space appear bigger. Wide horizontal stripes are great for tricking the eye to see an expanded space.

Design Idea #5: Try Half-Door Shower.

If your bathroom has a tub-shower combination, installing a singular clear glass door that only extends to the middle of the tub allows you to take showers without water soaking the floor while opening up your bathroom space.

Design Idea #6: Consider Above-Toilet Shelving.

To eliminate the need for added storage space and to free up your floors, have shelving installed above the toilet for storage of bathroom items and to use as decorative spaces.

Design Idea #7: Use Mirrors.

Mirrors are already a bathroom necessity, but the bigger the better! Mirrors add depth to a room, and a mirrored wall can double the visual space in your bathroom.
