Why We Never Cover Mold and Mildew

March 5, 2018

As a Maryland bathroom remodeling company, we see and hear this one all the time. People asking if we can just cover the mold up. Or coming across a bathroom which just… stinks… only to find the previous contractor covered up mildew.

So why is it we won’t cover up mold or mildew? The answer boils down to a few key points…

It’s for Your Safety

Mold is dangerous. When mildew and mold are left to their own devices in a favorable environment they can become potentially quite dangerous. So even if the mold is covered up with some sort of paint, there is a change it could grow and compromise the structure of your home or your safety. Exposing your family to unnecessary health risks is not something we are willing to do. Even if you ask us, it’s just not how we operate. Again, it’s for your safety.

Our Work Warranty

We put a warranty on our work and we stand by this warranty. But when it comes to covering up mold, that would simply not be something we’d be able to put our warranty on. Mold can create structural issues leading to quicker deterioration of your new bathroom space. It’s an x-factor, and it’s not something we will or should warranty.

Quality of End Product

Now with the legal and health reasons aside, another main reason we won’t cover up mold is because it create a substandard product. Again, mold can compromise the structure of your home and this would be a lower quality product. That’s not how we operate. We create only the highest quality bathroom remodels and by covering up mold we aren’t adhering to our mantra.

Our Service Promise

Our promise is that our services will always do things right and we refuse to do things incorrectly. Covering up mold and mildew is a shortcut. And we don’t take shortcuts. We create quality finished products and in the instance where no one would notice if we used a substandard part or method we will still take the high road. Again, we do things right and we will refuse to do things incorrectly.
