3 Ways Acrylic Bathtubs are the Perfect Fit

August 14, 2019

If you’re looking to install a new bathtub in Maryland, you may be wondering what kind you should get. Nowadays there are many different kinds of bathtubs and different materials you can choose from, but one material stands out to us: acrylic. We wanted to take some time today to discuss the benefits of installing a new acrylic bathtub in your bathroom.

Able to Fit Any Design

Acrylic comes in sheets that are malleable and can be made to fit any shape or size. It also comes in many different colors, ensuring that an acrylic tub can fit into any design scheme. Whether you want a small functional bathtub or a large spa-like tub, acrylic can work for you.

Keep Your Hot Water Hot

Acrylic bathtubs have smooth surfaces that are warm to the touch in normal temperatures. When you fill the tub with warm or hot water, you needn’t worry about the temperature going down over the course of your bath. If you enjoy taking long hot baths, then you should really consider acrylic for your new Maryland bathtub.

Low-Maintenance

The smooth stain resistant high gloss finishes on acrylic tubs are easy to clean, removing the need to exhaust yourself scrubbing. Sometimes accidents happen and scratches do crop up on tubs, but with acrylic scratches tend to go all the way through the material, making the scratches not as noticeable as on other tubs. Additionally any scratches that you do have can be patched up with an acrylic filler and some sandpaper.

Lightweight

Some cast-iron tubs can weigh in at 200 to 400 pounds, making them a pain to move and requiring an extra sturdy floor. Acrylic tubs on the other hand usually weigh in at 60 to 70 pounds. They are much easier to install and you don’t need as sturdy of a floor. Of course the tub will still be heavy when filled with water, so you will still need a sturdy floor.
