Barrier free showers are custom designed showers that have a very low or zero barrier. Barrier free showers come in an array of styles and designs to suit your needs. The units can be designed with a ramp or beveled edge and flush to floor surfaces. Barrier free showers are the perfect solution for those who have hip, knee and back issues and where lifting the leg is painful. Tub Cut Out (safe way step)
The tub cut out or safe way step as it has been nicknamed is the perfect solution for a small budget renovation and a need for a safer bath area. The safe way step is recommended for use in bathrooms where the tub/shower area is in great condition and the only issue is the step over area of the tub which poses and obstacle.
The process: With a tub cut out, the center section of your existing tub is cut away and removed. The area is then reinforced and protected with a custom fit protective cap. The safe way step offers an easy to enter tub area and is a low cost way to create a tub to shower conversion with out the hassle or need to renovate the entire area. With a cut out the tub is no longer used as a bath but instead as a shower. Lower cost and the possibility of being able to reverse the process make it appealing to those with only one bathroom in the home who are concerned about resale value. Cut outs can be reversed on most metal tubs that have a porcelain coating. To reverse a safe way step, the center area is filled back in and a tub liner in installed restoring the tub back to normal usage.
Walk In Tubs
Do you miss sitting down in a hot tub of water? Do you suffer from muscle and body aches? If so a walk in tub may be the answer. Walk in tubs are bathtubs, specially designed with an entry door. They allow for a safer bathing experience. Walk in tubs can be designed with many beneficial features including a in line heater that will keep your bath warm, jets and air bubbles to sooth your aching muscles and light therapy to create a tranquil atmosphere. Walk in tubs are truly a luxurious and offer a revitalizing bathing experience.
Grab Bars and Accessories
Bath Doctor offers a large array of accessories and grab bars to complement or complete you bathroom renovation. We have grab bars in many styles, sizes and finishes. We offer grab bars for inside the shower area, as well as around the rest of the bathroom, including drop down styles that are placed next to the toilet area.
High Comfort Toilets
High comfort toilets are the perfect solution for those who are looking for a more comfortable height. High comfort toilets are 17 inches high, the same height of a standard dining room chair. They offer a more natural seated position and less stress on the hips, knees and back. Standard toilets measure around 14 inches from the floor, making them low and difficult to stand up from a seated position for most adults.
Bath Doctor offers a multitude of flooring options. During your free in home estimate we will discuss a variety of options to suit your needs. Durability, safety, slip resistance, ease of maintenance and warranty are all things considered and addressed during our visit.
Complete Bathroom Remodeling
In some bathrooms, it’s enough to replace a bathtub to improve safety. Other bathrooms, however, may be poorly designed and need more extensive renovations. Our Maryland bathroom remodeling experts will assess your bathroom and your needs before making any redesign suggestions. For example, if you plan on using a walker or a wheelchair in the bathroom, you may need more room and could benefit from our handicap bathroom remodeling services.
We Keep Your Style in Mind
At Bath Doctor, we believe that a senior-friendly or an ADA-compliant bathroom doesn’t have to be ugly. We bet a hospital ward is not the look you were going for! Our bathroom design specialists take the time to discuss your style with you and look for materials and product options that reflect your personality and match the rest of the home. For instance, grab bars don’t have to have a shiny chrome surface and, in fact, come in a variety of finishes and styles. And walk-in tubs can feature massage jets for a spa look and feel.
